The Body of Christ is made up of Christians of all shapes, sizes and understandings of God. On Saturday, April 17, hundreds of people from the churches of Granbury came together, worshipped and then went out into the world with the love of Jesus. 43 faithful disciples from Acton UMC bagged groceries at David's Supermarket in Acton and in Thorp Springs . . . and to top it all off we bagged them in our AUMC Go Green for God (G3) reusable grocery bags . . . 1700 of them!! Even the rain couldn't stop the smiles and the good will and the love of God.

What a great day it was. Yes the love of God was everywhere. At Thorpe Springs David's story there were two very special events that reflected God's love on that morning.
A young pregnant girl was checking out and did not have enough money to pay for everything that she had picked up. She took an item out of her order and was then able to pay. As one of the Love Granbury volunteers was putting the groceries in her bag the customer behind the young lady picked up the item that she had returned and placed it in the bag and then included it in their own purchase.
There was a man who we will call Mickey the drummer. He was checking out at the counter. He had on a very wet hooded jacket and his actions were very slow and shakey. One of our volunteers knew the man and told us that he has terminal cancer. He had walked in the rain to the store from his home across the street.
Our volunteer introduced us to Micky and told us a little about him. He had once been a very successful drummer and played with several well known bands. He spoke of his illness and asked for our prayers. One of the volunteers took him home and as he got out of the vehicle he stopped and asked to pray.
About twenty minutes later across the parking lot walking in the rain came Mickey. He had come back to tell us that he had felt so much love while he was there that he had to come back. He told us some more about himself and then entertained us with the dance of the Six Flags old man.
One of Mickey's favorite things to do is play the claw machine at the local convience store and win Teddy Bears for the kids in the neighborhood.
We prayed with and for Mickey before he left again.
Please put Mickey the drummer on your prayer list.
To do God's work we must go were He is. He was definetly in Granbury on Saturday, April 17.
